	Policy Processes in Kenya

		2007 will be a very busy year for HUGAFO. The Government is spearheading the formulation of new Land, Wildlfe, Human Rights and the Protecion of Traditional Knowledge Systems, Folklore and Genetic Resources policies. The Proposed Land Policy is already in a draft form and is being discussed widely. A new Wildlife Policy is also being formulated in consultations with various stakeholders. A major borne of contention is whether to allow hunting of wild life. Unfortunately, Hunter Gatherer communitiers are yet to fully be heard in both of these processes. However, in the formulation of a policy aimed at the Protection of Traditional Knowlerdge, Folklore and Genetic Resources, members of HUGAFO are involved from the very initial stages. Updates will be avaliable on this website from time to time!
