I’m trying to think of some (I need 5 to be exact) but I can only think of a couple. One that they were artistic (with their cave drawings and sculptures) and that they were hunter/gatherers and had advanced weaponry. What other cultural characteristics could there be that reflect their lifestyle?

You guys don’t have to tell me exactly what their characteristics are but if you could give me some insightful examples that would be so helpful.

Thank you so much!

Question by : What does beer have to do with the evolution of liberals and conservatives?
Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals; and
2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That’s how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q’s and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girliemen.

Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.

Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn’t fair to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines, and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

Here ends today’s lesson in world history: It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it. A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to piss them off.
I just have to dust this one off every once in a while.
Uh-oh. It would seem the libbies can’t take a little joke.

Best answer:

Answer by IceT
With out beer there would be no Liberals. Because Liberal women are so ugly that is the only way Liberal men will have sex with them.

Question by GreatBuddha: Do you think the hunter and gatherers believed in God?
Could early man believed in God? Or were they too worried about getting food to care?

I ask this question because it seems like once our need for finding food was solved by farming, mankind had more time to think and dwell on our existence, and than suddenly the concept of God had come along.

Furthermore, if things did happen in that order, does it mean that mankind created God?

I think that the only way to discount the fact that mankind created God, is if the hunter and gatherers believed in God. If they believed in God than maybe there is one out there.

Nonetheless, what do you guys think?

Question by GrannyToad: DNA: Have you, would you, how do you think you would or could you use it in your GENEALOGY research? Any tips?
Keep in mind that “deep ancestry” and the Genographic Project have nothing whatever to do with genealogy. That is so far back it’s about hunter-gatherers armed with rocks roaming the planet, displacing one another geographically whether by force or sometimes a more attractive culture, and exchanging genes — but not keeping genealogically useful records, only at best the fossil record.
Off Topic — hey it’s not me you’re disagreeing with it is governments, the genealogy community and genealogy professionals. Have you not noticed that censuses aren’t available for most living persons and that living persons are not presented on reputable online gedcoms? It is unethical and now you know.

Back to our regular scheduled program.

Best answer:

Answer by Mitchell
Well Grannytoad I have used this for reasons of my fathers surname to try and establish links to a Virginia Branch of the family through Y-DNA unfortanly we didn’t match I think it can be useful when person who carry a very common surname can’t find records or documents to establish there lines to other lines. But I think thats the only useful thing for it. I mean I’m sure some people are interesting in seeing what exactly there Ancestry is made of and I must admit that learning about were my ancestors were 10,000 yrs or more ago I find to be very exciting it does nothing for my research but it opens a window to the ancient past that I tend to enjoy looking through. But I would only recommend it if you are at a loss for records or proof especially for us who had ancestors in the backwoods frontier were documents are rare and mostly only land grants and maybe a few church records its helpful to try and link through DNA to others who may have similar research or family lines. Anways I’ve rambled on you found one of my new passions. Hope this helps

Answer by sophia w
I have the same question for my global hw. I won’t find it surprising that you read Jared Diamond’s article.

Hunter gatherers achieve a balance between means and ends by wanting little. In our society, we create scarcity by generating infinite wants. Hunter gatherers also spend less time gathering food. Comparing to working, they only spend three to four hours a day to collect food. Hunter gatherers are also strong believers of egalitarianism. They do not have social classes. Over all, hunter gatherers live a better and more prosperous life.

On the other hand agriculture was the cause for all the inequality, disease, and tyranny in this world. One evidence proved that there was a dramatic height difference between the hunter-gatherers and the farmers. Greece and Turkey show that the average height of hunter gatherers toward the end of the ice ages was 5’9” for men and 5’5” for women. However, after agriculture had developed, men averaged about 5’3” and 5’ for women. Agriculture encouraged people to clump together in crowded societies, many of which then carried on trade with other crowded societies, led to the spread of parasites and infectious disease. Besides disease and health, agriculture also promoted social inequality. Hunter gatherers have little or no stored food, live off the wild plants and animals they obtain. Therefore, there can be no kings, no class of social parasites who grow fat on food seized from others. Only in a farming population could healthy, non-producing elite set itself above the others. Farming also encourages sexual inequality. Women were often made beasts of burden. I think that the piece citing about disease was the most convincing piece. I believe that epidemics tend spread faster in a crowded society than in a family.
